Important Info: Rafting Safety

A snippet of the safety briefing…

Personal flotation devices

Personal flotation devices/jacket (PFD) will be given to every client before we approach the river bank, regardless of your swimming expertize or prior experience rafting/tubing. Please have your jacket secured and snug, with all buckles and waist belt fastened. Your flotation device should be worn at all times until you are safely away from the water.

Swimming

The Nile River is the longest River in the world and the area we raft in has rapid, rushing water, which means it’s not a good idea to try to swim out of danger, always just float downstream until the water calms. Download PDF with Safety Info

What you need to know?

THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CLIENTS?

The tours will go through if at least two people have booked for that particular trips, large groups on request.

AGE RESTRICTION

The minimum age is 13 years old. The maximum age limit is dependent on the individual’s general state of health and physical fitness.

EXPERIENCE AND FITNESS

No previous rafting experience is required, the ability to swim is necessary but not really required.

ABOUT YOUR HEALTH

You are also required to inform us about any medical conditions that may suffice during the activity.

MIXED RAFT CREW

We run the Nile in 16-foot self-bailing rafts, with crews of up to 8, but usually 6 or 7. You and your travel companions may be teamed up with people you don’t know. Not to worry, you will be under the instruction of one of our experienced guides who boast of over 10 years’ experience in this river. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and create lasting friendships. It is an incredible shared experience, on an incredible river. The teamwork and exhilaration of a day on the Nile simply can’t be explained; until you’ve “ticked it off”. However, you may opt for a PRIVATE RAFTING TRIP if you feel uncomfortable with this arrangement.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR WHITE WATER RAFTING?

We recommend light outdoor sandals or trainers, shorts and a t-shirt. A cap can also be worthwhile beneath the helmet. Please note due to temperatures and the sun please bring sunscreen.

TAKING WATER/FOOD ON THE RAFTS

TMU provides drinking water on all rafts. At the end of the trip, you will be served with a munchy lunch.

VIDEOS AND PHOTOGRAPHS

While on the river, videos and photographs will be taken by our strategically locationed photographers. Photos are free. Videos will be availed to you at a small processing fee.

CAMERAS, PASSPORTS AND OTHER VALUABLES ON THE RAFT

TMU advises clients to leave cameras, passports and valuables at their place of residence. Should you choose to bring your valuables along, we may secure them for you at our discretion and you can claim them back after the trip. TMU reserves the right to accept or decline securing items from customers. The company or its agents are not liable for damaged or lost items.
